Working in partnership with Parent Teacher Associations

At Fresh Air Fitness, we have enjoyed working closely with many Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) over the years. PTAs are groups of volunteer mums, dads and staff members who come together to help improve the learning environment for children.

Some 12,500 PTA members belong to the charity Parentkind, whose mission is to “empower everyone with parental or educational responsibility to improve the life chances of children, young people and their communities”. This is essentially the network of PTA fundraisers across the UK, offering specialist support and advice.

Fresh Air Fitness is delighted to be a preferred supplier for this organisation and as such we can be found in the Parentkind directory. To be listed in the directory a supplier requires the recommendation of at least one PTA or other voluntary organisation that has used your services.

Impacts of PTAs

PTAs can have a hugely positive impact on the overall life of a school community. Indeed, since the pandemic there has never been a more important time for parents to join forces to benefit their kids’ school lives.

One way in which PTAs can do exactly this is to fundraise for an outdoor gym at their school to engage all pupils in more physical activity. This can bring a variety of benefits, from increased energy levels, making it easier for pupils to focus during classes, to improved balance, agility, and coordination. At the same time, the skeletal, muscular and cardiovascular systems are all strengthened. And a facility like this not only enhances a school’s PE provision but can also be used during breaks, at lunchtime, before and after school and as an afterschool club.

One survey from recent years found that just over half (53%) of six-year-olds met the recommended daily guidelines for moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. The study involved more than 700 children and was conducted at the universities of Cambridge and Southampton, underlining the importance of exercise for kids.

What we offer

As an award-winning provider of outdoor gym equipment for UK schools, we at Fresh Air Fitness have been working with primarysecondaryspecial educational needs and other institutions for more than a decade, covering key stages 1-4.

Our offering represents one of Britain’s largest ranges of child-sized outdoor gym equipment, covering everything from cardio and muscular strength building to improving flexibility and co-ordination. It can encourage the most reluctant students to get exercising and keep moving, and suits kids of all abilities and fitness levels, including those with special educational needs.

We’ll be there with you throughout the whole process as you plan your outdoor gym, from discussing the initial idea through to fitting, post-installation care and instructions on getting the most from your facility, offering expert advice every step of the way.

Fresh Air Fitness can also advise on sources of funding for your school’s open-air gym.

Other PTAs, such as the one at Hammond School in Lightwater, Surrey, have benefited from working with us, and we could do the same for you, too. Get in touch today to learn more about how we could transform physical activity at your school.
