If you’re planning on fitting some items of outdoor gym equipment for your community, whether that’s a school, park, residential or NHS environment, you can look forward to a great number of benefits.

A key part of the planning process is to identify which products to include. Every type of user will have different needs and requirements of the new gym, from size and accessibility to physical goals including rehabilitation, strength development, weight loss or general fitness.
Here, we look at some of these groups, and what might work best for each one.
1. Primary school pupils
For this group, you’ll need equipment that's an appropriate size and which is safe for children in this age bracket to use. One piece that’s ideal is Fresh Air Fitness’s children’s rig, which up to six youngsters can use at once. It offers a number of physically demanding activities and caters for a wide range of abilities, while developing strength, stamina, balance, flexibility and coordination.
We also offer a full range of child-size equipment, all designed specifically for key stages 1 and 2. They are fun to use, sustainable and affordable, allow pupils and entire classes to find enjoyment through exercise, enriching PE, breaktime and afterschool clubs.

2. Secondary school students
We’ve written previously about the particular needs of secondary school students and how they can benefit specifically from an open-air workout facility. Again, equipment needs to be appropriate for the age of the user, and designed to give a varied, fun and full workout while encouraging kids to socialise and work out together.
Fresh Air Fitness’s Big Rig in particular is a popular choice, since 16 pupils can use it at any one time, plus it offers dozens of different workout possibilities providing opportunities for the least active through to those who regularly take part in sport and physical activity to get involved and benefit. But we have other pieces too, aimed at giving this group a full-body workout that’s enjoyable, sociable and effective.
At the moment, we have a variety of special offer packages specially designed for Secondary schools and remember, we also provide a full end-to-end service including site inspection, design and production of your facility, speedy fitting and great post-installation care, plus a 25-year warranty.
3. Councils for Parks and Green Spaces
If you’re a local authority and fitting an outdoor gym in a park, recreation ground or similar, outdoor gyms are a great way of providing people with a free, fun and convenient way of exercising near them in the fresh air. You’ll probably want to provide equipment for all ages and abilities, and it’ll need to be safe, compliant and vandal-resistant, since it’s in a public space. What’s more, an open-air facility like this can do a great deal to regenerate a deprived or tired area.
Again, our multi-user Big Rig could fit the bill perfectly. We offer a number of great deals for parks and similar settings, including a free triple pull-up with every parks package. Or grab a 10% discount with our parks starter offer, including our Air Skier, Double Air Walker and Rider.
Finally, our fantastic bumper package for councils incorporates seven pieces which 12 people can use at once.
4. Corporate Campus
Keep your staff healthy, active and happy with a stress-busting, on-site outdoor gym they can use at lunchtimes or before or after work. Clearly, you’ll want to focus on kit that’s suitable for adults – we have more than 40 products to choose from and are well placed to advise our corporate clients on what would best suit them.
5. Care homes
If you work in a setting like this, you’ll already be aware of the benefits of keeping residents active and moving, and of the associated benefits to their physical, mental and social wellbeing. You’ll also understand that exercise is key to keeping this age group independent for as long as possible.
Fresh Air Fitness can help, with our line-up of products which have been specially designed to give older people or those with less mobility a low-impact workout.
Choose from more than 50 items, all supplied with a 25-year warranty, clear instructions and our comprehensive after-care service.
For this group, you may wish to install items such as our popular Double Air Walker for all abilities, the Hip Twister which improves flexibility plus a range of movement, or our Arm and Pedal Bike.
