COUNCILS
Launched with a series of PT run fitness classes, their 22 user gym, with award-winning Big Rig, has already proven to be a huge success with people of all ages and abilities.
Kidlington Parish Council are responsible for several parks within the area for their community to use for fitness and recreation. Maintaining the grounds and providing facilities for optimum health and wellbeing are their top priority.
The Councillors were looking for a partner who could provide first class outdoor gym equipment and help the community make best use of it. The council wanted equipment that provided fantastic exercise value, challenging users of different ability levels, and found Fresh Air Fitness’ range matched exactly what they were looking for.
After a rigorous tender process, Fresh Air Fitness was chosen to provide an outdoor gym facility for Kidlington Parish Council. Fresh Air Fitness installed a gym with 22 user stations across only 5 pieces of equipment! This included the Big Rig, a product Kidlington found unique to anything else on the market with its extensive and varied range of strength exercise opportunities. Complimented with 4 additional cardio pieces to provide a complete gym that covered every aspect of strength and cardio.
The equipment is suitable for ages 11 – 100! For people completely new to exercise or people who regularly workout. The project was completed with mulch surfacing, including groundworks, to provide a safe surface with drainage, protecting the longevity of the gym. To support the installation and maximise usage of the equipment, Fresh Air Fitness also provided a significant amount of support, including:
Comprehensive signage showing how the equipment should be used, plus suggested workout plans for the Big Rig. Labels on every product also give clear instructions on the safe use of the equipment and recommended workout times. The free Fresh Air Fitness App can also be used to create further workouts and to follow instructional videos.
As well as having access to the outdoor gym any day or time of the week, formal introductory fitness sessions were run to help launch the outdoor gym and motivate the community to use the new facility. This helped the community to feel confident about the equipment they were using and to develop workout plans suitable for their personal needs.
The gym equipment has been incredibly well received by the community. The PT run sessions were a fantastic success, getting people active and involved in using the gym, and only enhanced the positive impact of the gym on the community by acting as a launchpad for many locals into their fitness journey.
With regular use, the community will reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease, diseases that are crippling the NHS, costing £10 billion and £7.4 billion per year respectively
