Fresh Air Fitness install award-winning Big Rig at Girton College, Cambridge to enhance the world-class learning experience of students
Girton College wanted to expand on their existing fitness offering to students and reached out to Fresh Air Fitness to work with them on an outdoor gym facility within the college grounds.
At Girton College, the surroundings and facilities are designed to enhance the world-class learning experience of the students, so the outdoor gym needed to be state of the art, fun to use, sustainable and offer students a different way to exercise whilst enjoying all of the additional health benefits of the fresh air and natural daylight. All outdoor gym equipment also had to be easy to use and suitable for students of all fitness levels.
The college selected the Fresh Air Fitness award-winning, Big Rig as the perfect solution.
With 17 user stations and its wide range of exercise opportunities, the Big Rig provides a full body workout, from beginners through to the most advanced users.
Big Rig workout stations include:

• Hip Twister
• Sit Up Bench
• Leg Lift
• Leg Press
• Dorsal Raise
• Step Up
The Rig was installed in an area of the college grounds adjacent to multi use courts whilst still being located conveniently close to student accommodation. The Big Rig was completed with a grass mat surface throughout the area which allows the equipment to blend seamlessly with its natural environment. An A2 Big Rig sign was also installed to provide an excellent guide for gym use.
