Two separate studies have shown that green gym activity reduces stress and exercising in groups improves health and well being significantly more, across a range of measures, compared with exercising alone.

Those exercising in a group showed significant improvements in all three quality of life measures: boosting mental well-being by 12 percent mental, self-reported physical fitness by 24 percent and emotional stability by 26 percent. They also reported a 26 percent reduction in perceived stress levels.
In a study conducted by the University of Westminster for the BBC’s Trust Me I’m a Doctor series, those participating in a Green Gym reported higher levels of well-being and lower levels of stress, anxiety and depression, and saliva samples showed a 20% improvement in their cortisol awakening response, a scientific measure of well being.
